Illuminate Immingham

Now in its third year, Illuminate Immingham will launch the town’s year-long activities to commemorate the sailing of the Mayflower ship with a magnificent lantern parade and, brand new for this year, some exciting digital projections.

Commencing from the Civic Hub on the evening of Friday 29th November, the parade will incorporate a dazzling array of lanterns made by the community with artists. In addition, artist Jason Willsher-Mills will be working with the community to bring life to historic people of the time through contemporary art that will be projected along the route and onto St Andrew’s Church.   The evening will culminate in a service of thanksgiving at St Andrew’s Church.

Funding through an Arts Council England National Lottery project Grant has enabled the town to develop the artistic quality of the event and to build further engagement within the community.  Free workshops will take place in the weeks leading up to the parade offering the opportunity to create and take part. Members of the public are also encouraged to support the event and volunteers are welcome to come forward.

Illuminate Immingham is part of the Pilgrim Roots ‘Pilgrim Festival’, a two-week festival in the home towns and villages of many of the Mayflower Pilgrims including Gainsborough, Bawtry, Boston, Retford, Worksop and Immingham.
